As a partner in the firm’s business and corporate practice group, Nick Heinz represents clients in a wide array of business transactions. He has a particular focus on mid-market mergers and acquisitions.
Before joining McShane & Bowie, Nick served as deputy general counsel for a top ten global insurance brokerage. There, he worked closely with the chief legal officer to build and mature the legal function. He worked on matters ranging from insurance regulatory compliance, to privacy, to mergers, acquisitions, financing, and related due diligence.
Nick’s in-house and law firm experiences allow him to focus on what matters most to his clients. He has negotiated numerous commercial contracts and licensing agreements. He also has experience overseeing a portfolio of legal entities and intellectual property assets.
Nick received his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan before earning his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Iowa. During law school, he was a summer associate with a large Grand Rapids law firm, where he later worked in the corporate/M&A group before going in-house with the insurance brokerage.
Nick, his wife, and their three rambunctious sons enjoy being a part of the Grand Rapids community. When he’s not in the office or with his family, your best chance of finding him is on the golf course.
